Approach
Our aim is to have both the knowledge and influence to shape debate in the world’s emerging and changing industries, be they:
- Brand new industries (often arising from a technology breakthrough). As they commercialise and go global they have a hunger for information, partnerships, customers and suppliers. We look to help them
- Existing industries – those that must adapt, or have a chance to grow, because of technology, market, political or regulatory change
We pinpoint those groups who most need information and partners and start providing it. Selling them something is not necessarily our first move.
Insiders
We work in small groups of people who get deeply involved in their specialist industry. In fact they’re encouraged to become industry personalities in their own right.
As a result our conferences and reports are built on knowledge borne of year-round, in-depth involvement with the industries we cater for…both on and offline.
This way we’re part of the debate on how the future’s developing, not just observers.
Best business practice
Our industry teams have a great deal of autonomy. We don’t impose business practice from the top down, but rely on teams to establish what works best for their business and to then share their findings as best practise across our whole organisation.
We encourage a blend of entrepreneurialism and ‘applied learning’. In practise the approach looks like this:
- Experiment
- Establish Best Practice
- Train
- Experiment again
We work in a fast-developing industry that’s wide open to innovation. No one’s written the book on how to do this job – and you can’t go on any courses to learn how. Our aim is to write that book.
